Dolphins in Lake Geneva?

It sounds like a dream, yet it happened right here in our local waters. Recently, members of the Crans Sailing School (CN Crans) witnessed something truly extraordinary: the presence of dolphins in Lake Geneva, just off the shores of our region.

In the heart of Terre Sainte, this sighting has sparked both wonder and scientific curiosity. While Lake Geneva is world-famous for its perch and pike, seeing marine mammals this far inland is a historic and unprecedented event.

According to the logbook entry from the Cercle Nautique de Crans (CN Crans), several individuals were spotted jumping near the sailing boats, much to the delight of the young sailors and their instructors. The atmosphere at the port was one of pure disbelief and joy.

A Scientific Mystery?

Experts are already looking into this phenomenon. How could these animals have reached the lake? While questions remain about the environmental factors that led to this arrival, the emotional impact on the local community is already undeniable.

For the residents and expats of Terre Sainte, this event adds a touch of magic to our local landscape. Whether it is a sign of changing ecosystems or a unique natural miracle, it serves as a reminder of how precious and surprising our “Léman” can be.

Stay tuned: The sailing school continues to monitor the waters, and more updates are expected as researchers arrive on-site to study this exceptional occurrence.
